SWEET

Crisp, mineral-driven white

Descriptor: Clean citrus and/or tart green apple fruit character, chalky minerality, and varying degrees of white floral notes, depending on grape varieties used.

Basic factors that influence this style of wine:

  • Varietals: Viura, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscatel
  • Terroir: cool climate, soils such as gravel and sand.
  • Winemaking: fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, low temperature to highlight acidity.

Goes well with light starters and salads.

This category of white includes easy-going, thirst-quenching Viura blends fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, lively unoaked Chardonnay bottlings, and the occasional single-varietal Sauvignon Blanc. An increasing number of Navarra producers are adding dry Moscatel to their white blends, adding a touch of melon and honey to the wines.
